Rewards ladders and free gifts

A rewards ladder gives shoppers a visible reason to add one more item: "2 items: free shipping. 3 items: choose a free gift. 4 items: 15% off." Luxe shows progress on the storefront and applies every reward at Shopify checkout through one automatic discount, Luxe Rewards.

Create a ladder

Open Rewards and select Create ladder.

SettingOptions
Name and priorityPriority decides between ladders when two offer the same money reward
ScopeStore-wide, or one bundle set
What the ladder countsMeasure: Bundle set quantity (sets in the cart), Cart quantity (all items) or Cart subtotal (in your store currency)
RungsUp to 10. Each has a threshold, a reward and the label shoppers see, for example "Free shipping unlocked". Thresholds must increase from rung to rung
Stack with bundle set pricingOn by default: the ladder's discount applies on top of set prices. Off: set lines are left out of the ladder's money reward

The preview beside the editor shows the drawer and the rewards bar for a sample cart you describe.

Rewards

RewardAt checkout
Free shippingFree shipping on every delivery group, or only on options up to a maximum rate you set
Percentage offOff the order, or off each item in scope
Amount offOff the order, or off the items in scope; never more than the items' value
Free gift100% off the gift the shopper chose, up to the rung's quantity, while the rung is met. Up to 10 gift options per rung
Message onlyA storefront message ("You've unlocked early access"); no discount

When several rungs are met, the highest money reward and the free shipping apply, and every met gift rung counts. Across ladders, the single best money reward applies.

How the free gift works

  1. When a shopper reaches a gift rung, the Luxe cart drawer (or the gift picker next to the rewards bar) offers the gifts. With a single gift option the shopper adds it with one tap; Luxe never puts a gift in the cart without the shopper choosing it.
  2. The gift is added to the cart and shown as "Free gift". Checkout makes it free only while its rung is met; a gift never counts toward its own rung.
  3. If the shopper removes items and the rung is lost, Luxe removes the gift and shows how many items unlock it again.

Every gift must be published to your Online Store. If a gift stays in the cart below its rung (for example with JavaScript blocked), checkout charges its normal price rather than giving it away.

Gift lines never count toward thresholds and are never part of Luxe-built revenue.

Where shoppers see the ladder

  • Luxe cart drawer: progress above the cart lines, with the next step ("Add 1 more set for free shipping") and the gift picker.
  • Rewards bar block: the same progress for stores that keep their theme's cart. Add it in the theme editor where you want it.
  • Collection tray: a compact line under the set total.

All labels are yours; Luxe does not hard-code shopper-facing text. Rung labels are set on the ladder; the rewards heading, progress messages and gift copy are in Settings > Storefront > Storefront words (Cart). The Rewards bar block has one setting, Layout (Full or Slim).

Combining with your other discounts

Luxe runs every ladder and collection set through one automatic discount, so combination rules are one setting for the store: Settings > Checkout and pricing > Discount combinations (product, order and shipping discounts). The ladder editor shows the current value.

Plan limits

Luxe Starter includes one active ladder. Activating another saves it as a draft with an upgrade banner; your live ladder keeps running.

Good to know

  • Money and shipping rewards apply at checkout even when the app embed is off, because the discount runs on Shopify's side. Gifts need the embed, since the shopper chooses them on the storefront.
  • If "Luxe Rewards" is deleted in the Shopify admin, Luxe recreates it on your next save and shows a banner until then.
  • A store can run up to 25 automatic discount functions; Luxe uses one.
  • Buyers ordering for a company (Shopify B2B) get no Luxe rewards, gifts or checkout offer and see no rewards bar, unless Settings > Checkout and pricing > B2B buyers treats them like everyone else. Rewards would otherwise stack on their wholesale prices.
