| Type | Shopper builds it | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Build-your-own set | In the Bundle set builder block on the set's product page | "Coffee sampler: pick 6 origins, buy 3 get 3 free" |
| Collection set | In a sticky tray on your real collection page | "Build your candle set: choose 3" |
| Fixed set | With one add button | "Sock 3-pack" |
Build-your-own sets
A build-your-own set is a set product plus optional fixed components plus one or more slot groups.
- Set product. The product the shopper adds to cart. Luxe expands it into the chosen items at checkout. It stays a normal product, so it remains purchasable everywhere, including AI shopping channels. Bundle sets sell as one-time purchases: Luxe won't activate a set whose set product offers a subscription or another purchase option, and flags a live set if one is added later.
- Fixed components. Items always included (a dripper, a cleanser). Each is charged at its own price, free, or a fixed amount.
- Slot groups. A name, a number of slots, a minimum and maximum, whether the same item may fill two slots, and a source: a collection, a variant list or a tag. Each slot can have its own label. With the Quantity list layout a group reads as Minimum items and Maximum items (up to 48) and always allows repeats.
- Default picks. For each slot, the item used when a shopper buys without choosing (an AI agent, a shopper without JavaScript, or your theme's own add-to-cart button). Luxe keeps them in stock automatically: when an item sells out, the next available one from your fallback list takes its place. If a group can no longer be filled, the bundle set is flagged in the admin and sells unexpanded at the set product's price.
Pricing
| Mode | In the editor | The set costs |
|---|---|---|
| Set price | Set price | The set product's price, whatever is picked. Optionally, Premium picks cost more: name premium items in a group, each adding an amount per pick (a pistachio pastry at +1.50); the builder shows it on the item, and default picks never pay it |
| Percent off | Percent off items | Each item's price less your percentage, rounded per item |
| Amount off the set | Amount off the set | The sum of the items less a fixed amount, such as 20 off, whatever is picked. Spread across the items by price; a set worth less than the amount sells at zero. Also for Fixed sets |
| Save more with more | Save more with more | Each item's price less the percentage of the highest tier the set reaches, such as 3 items 5% off, 4 items 10%, 5 or more 15%. Up to 5 tiers; you choose which groups count. Below the first tier items keep their own prices |
| Per slot | Per-slot rules | Each slot's own rule: the item's price, free, a fixed amount or a percentage off. Slot 4 to 6 marked Free show a Free badge in the builder |
| Cheapest item free | Cheapest item free | For every few items (Items per set, such as 3), the least expensive item is free or takes your percentage off, whatever order the shopper picks in. Six items with 3 per set discount the two least expensive. Fixed components never count. The builder marks each free item Free |
Your discount codes apply on top of the set's price. To keep a code off a bundle set, exclude its set product from that code in Discounts.
Markets and B2B. Percent off items, Save more with more, Per-slot rules, Cheapest item free and Amount off the set price the set from your store's own item prices, converted to the shopper's currency. A market's own fixed prices or price adjustment, and B2B catalogs, don't change these sets: shoppers there pay the converted store price. Set price charges the set product's price, which Markets and catalogs do set, so use it where market or B2B prices matter. The editor warns when your store has either.
B2B buyers. If you sell wholesale with Shopify B2B, Luxe steps aside for buyers ordering for a company, unless you change Settings > Checkout and pricing > B2B buyers. They see your theme's own price and buy buttons instead of the builder, and every bundle set sells to them at its set product's price in their catalog, whatever the set's pricing mode, with the same items and no premium-pick amounts. Give each set product a price in your B2B catalogs. To show B2B buyers the builder and Luxe pricing too, choose Treat B2B buyers like everyone else: sets priced from their items then charge your retail item prices, not their catalog prices.
Compare-at can be a fixed amount or the sum of the items; it shows as "Value" only when higher than the price. An optional savings badge shows the difference.
The editor's Preview shows what checkout will charge, the value, and the agent and no-JS price (the set product's price, which shoppers pay when they do not choose). When these differ, one button in the Preview updates the set product's price to match.
On the storefront
The bundle set editor's Go live card has everything to put the set on your store: Preview on store (works while the product is a draft), Add to theme (opens the theme editor on the set's product page with the Bundle set builder block added; save to keep it) and a checklist with a fix for each open step. On the set's own product page the block finds the bundle set by itself. To show a bundle set on another page, add the Bundle set builder block there and choose the set's product as its Bundle set.
The block itself carries only placement: Bundle set, Replace the theme's price and buy buttons, Compact spacing and, under Advanced, an optional Item source collection. Everything else is in Luxe: layout, the set's words and Show Complete my set (on by default) in the editor's Display card, shop-wide words in Settings > Storefront > Storefront words, colours and fonts in the app embed's Brand.
Choose a layout in the Display card:
- Pills: compact rows, suited to small sets.
- Tiles: an image grid (default).
- Box: an illustrated box that fills as slots are picked, suited to gift sets and samplers.
- Variant rows: one row of swatches per group, for a shade or colour of each product.
- Quantity list: a row per item with a − and + stepper, for sets that grow ("a tube plus as many jars as you like", "3 or more tubes"). A group of one item shows as a choice, fixed components show as Included, and a Save more with more set shows how many more items reach the next saving. Without JavaScript the block sells the default set at the set product's price and lists every item.
Tapping a slot opens the item picker (a drawer on desktop, a sheet on mobile) with sort and filter by your product filters, a swatch or in-use view, and sold-out and low-stock states. The add button enables once every group reaches its minimum. Share this set copies a link that reopens the same build.
Food sets
Bakery boxes, snack boxes, pantry boxes, produce boxes and recipe boxes run on build-your-own sets, and a recipe box can also run on your recipes collection page. Start from a template under Food boxes and meal kits (Bakery Box, Snack Box, Pantry Box, Seasonal Box, Recipe Box, Recipe box (collection page), This Week's Menu), then use what food sets need:
- Most of any one item. In a slot group that allows the same item twice, or in a collection set with Allow the same product twice, set Most of any one item (for example 2: "at most two of any recipe"). Shoppers can't add a third, the picker or the tray says so, and checkout refuses a build over it: a build-your-own set sells at its set product's price, and a collection set over the limit gets no set price and no tier rewards. Leave it blank for no limit.
- Eligible items. In Eligible items, choose a filter and its values, such as Storage is Chilled for a chilled box. Only matching items can fill the set, in the picker and at checkout. Items need that value in Product filters; if a group has none, the set won't save.
- Weekly schedule. For a group sourced from a collection, Add week lists the collection for each week (a start date, the collection and a label such as "Week of 12 Oct"). On each date the group switches to that week's collection, within ten minutes. Shoppers see the week's label and Order by the day before the next switch. Dates switch at midnight UTC.
- Allergens and item details. Turn on Settings > Storefront > Item details so every item shows its allergens in bold and a Details view with ingredients and nutrition. For food sold in the EU and UK this information must be available before purchase; Luxe shows what your products hold, and you stay responsible for it.
- "No nuts" filters. Set an Allergens filter's Filter chips to Hide products with a value so shoppers can rule allergens out.
Delivery dates, delivery zones and stock per delivery day stay with your delivery-date app; Luxe works alongside it.
Collection sets
A collection set turns a collection page into a builder.
- In the editor, choose the collection, the number of picks (minimum and maximum) and the price: a fixed price for the set, a percentage off, or Rewards only (the set's own rewards set the savings, see below).
- Optionally hide the price until the shopper is close ("3 more to see the price").
- In the theme editor, make sure the Luxe app embed is on. On Horizon, add the Add to bundle set block inside the product card. On most other themes the embed adds the control to product cards automatically.
Shoppers tap Add to set on product cards; a tray docks at the bottom of the page with filled and empty slots, then the set's price and savings. Completing the set adds each item as its own cart line, grouped as one set.
A store can run up to 4 active collection sets at a time. Collection set pricing is applied at checkout through the "Luxe Rewards" discount.
Tier progress bar: build your bundle, unlock more
A collection set can reward shoppers tier by tier as it grows: free shipping from the first item, 10% off at three, 15% off at five. The tier progress bar shows shoppers how close they are to the next reward: each tier, the next step ("Add 2 more for 10% off your set") and the tiers already unlocked. The tray's total already includes the savings checkout will apply.
The quickest start is the Build your bundle, unlock more template (Bundle sets > Create bundle set > Popular):
- Open the template. It is a collection set of 1 to 6 picks, repeats allowed, priced Rewards only.
- Choose the collection and save. Saving also creates the set's rewards as a draft, Build your bundle rewards: free shipping at 1 item, 10% off at 3, 15% off at 5.
- Under Set rewards, check the tiers, or open Edit rewards to change them: thresholds, rewards (a gift of the shopper's choice works too), short labels and messages.
- Activate the rewards (Rewards > the ladder > Activate) and the set (its status). Until the rewards are active, a Rewards only set gives no discount; the editor says so.
The Recipe box (collection page) template (Food boxes and meal kits) works the same way: 3 to 5 recipes, at most 2 of any one, and its tiers created with it as a draft: 5% off at 4 recipes, 10% off at 5.
For an existing collection set: set the pricing to Rewards only, set a minimum below the maximum if shoppers may stop early, save, then use Create this set's rewards under Set rewards.
Preview. The editor's Preview steps through the tiers: one button per tier ("0", "1 item", "3 items", "5 items"). Choose one to see the tray at that count, the tier it unlocks, the next step and the total, which the preview prices exactly as checkout will for those picks. The bar is drawn in the position you choose below, and changes as soon as you pick another.
Where the tier progress bar shows. In the set's Tray section, Tier progress bar position places it:
- In the tray (default): beside the picks on desktop, above them on mobile.
- Stacked above the tray: a full-width row across the top of the tray, with the picks and total below. On mobile, as In the tray.
- Top of the page: a banner above the collection's product grid, below its heading. On mobile it is one line, the next step and a thin bar; the tray shows its own next step only once the banner has scrolled away.
- Top of the page, sticky: the same banner, which stays under your theme's header while shoppers scroll the collection.
For the two Top of the page choices, add the Tier progress bar block where the banner should go: in the theme editor, open the collection template, add an Apps section above the product grid and choose Tier progress bar. The page then keeps the banner's space as it loads, so nothing jumps. Without the block, Luxe places the banner just above the product grid itself, and the products below move down once as it appears. The block shows nothing on collections whose set keeps its tier progress bar in the tray.
Large collections. The tray reads up to 250 products per collection page. On themes whose product cards hold the Add to bundle set block (Horizon), every card works; on Dawn and most other themes, products past the first 250 show no Add to set. The editor warns when a collection holds more than 250 products: keep it at 250 or fewer, or add the Add to bundle set block to the theme's product cards.
Products that can't be set items or gifts
Gift cards, Shopify bundles and subscription-only products can't be set items or rewards gifts: Shopify never discounts gift cards, bundles don't nest, and a set item or gift is a one-time purchase. A bundle set or ladder that lists one by hand can't go live until it is removed; the editor names the product. Collection and tag sources leave them out on their own, and the editor lists what was left out. For collection sets, move Shopify bundles out of the collection: the storefront can't tell them apart.
Fixed sets
A fixed set is a build-your-own set with no slots: a set product and its fixed components, priced by Set price or Percent off items. The builder shows one add button.
Edit sets from the cart
With the Luxe cart drawer, every set line shows Edit set. The builder reopens with the current picks; Update set replaces the set in the cart at the same quantity. If the update fails, the original set is restored.
For a collection set, Edit set takes the shopper back to the set's collection page with the tray holding their picks; Update set replaces the set in the cart, and if the update fails the original set is put back. With your theme's own cart, Luxe adds Edit set to each set line on the cart page by itself, with no theme code; inside a theme's own cart drawer, Edit set comes with the Luxe cart drawer.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Bundle sets on Luxe Starter | 1 active bundle set; further sets save as drafts |
| Collection sets per store | 4 active |
| Items a set can draw from | About 350 variants; the editor shows the budget and blocks publishing above it. A collection or tag source reads every variant of each product and stops at 400, with a warning |
| Sets in one cart | 6 |
Status
Draft bundle sets save only in Luxe. Active publishes the set to the storefront and checkout, and puts its set product on your Online Store sales channel (Luxe publishes only its own set products, never anything else). Deactivating, archiving or deleting a bundle set removes it from the storefront; the set product stays a normal product at its own price. Deleting a bundle set with Also archive the set product also takes the set product off the Online Store.
If Luxe cannot publish the set product (for example, you have not yet approved Luxe's new publishing permission), the bundle set stays live and the editor says Set product is not on your online store yet. Reload the app and approve the permission, then select Publish now in Go live, or publish the product in Shopify. Luxe also checks every night and publishes live sets' products that are missing from the Online Store.
If the checkout extensions are still being deployed, an active bundle set shows Checkout pricing pending; the set product sells at its own price until the notice clears.
